Worried about young people’s future, he decided to challenge Benin’s public education policies system which exclude and expulse students who failed three times with bad grades from the education system. So, in 2014 he propelled the idea to build up a private high school, particularly for those students with the aim to give them another chance to continue their education and achieve their dream by supporting one of his former high school mathematics teachers. Thus, he became the Executive Director of Studies and French instructor of college the CP La Methode/Calavi in Benin. He said: “ education is a fundamental right and no one should be discriminated against no matter the age of that person. Today, I am so happy to see those young people got their degrees and achieved their goals. Among them, I have a doctor, law enforcement, communicator, pastor, professor, etc. That has not only impacted the community but, also reduced community crimes.” Because “a kid who does not have a chance for minimum education will have a chance for crime.”

Moved to the United States of America for freedom and education, Dr. Denakpon has become a U.S. citizen. He received his Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.) in International Criminal Law and his LL.M. in U.S. & Global Legal Studies with a concentration in international criminal law with Honors from Case Western Reserve University School of Law where he has been appointed Adjunct Professor of Law to co-coach the International Criminal Court Moot Court Team with his former criminal law professor and primary doctorate faculty advisor and criminal defense Attorney Michael J. Benza. He also holds an LL.B. in Law from the School of Law (UFR) of the African University of Management and Technology (UATM Gasa-Formation) in Benin.

His co-coaching helped the team to win the national Round for the Americas and advance the team to the international rounds for the first time in the law school’s history with the Best Speaker and Best Brief Awards in 2021. During his LL.M. program journey, Denakpon Tchobo contributed to the Yemen Accountability Project by investigating war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in the Yemeni civil war. Dr. Denakpon Tchobo also studied U.S. Political Institutions: Congress, Presidency, Courts, and Bureaucracy, a course offered online by HarvardX from Harvard University.

Dr. Tchobo is a past recipient of the Case Global Service Award. As a legal scholar, he has published two books and many articles on genocide and international criminal law issues. He authored the proposed draft convention for the prevention and the punishment of groupicide. Dr. Tchobo is a polyglot. He is fluent in French, English, Fon, and Mina.
