Dr. Denakpon L. Tchobo

Co-Founder and President

Bio:

As President, Dr. Tchobo is the organization’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Dedicated to fighting human rights abuses and protecting victims’ rights, Denakpon Tchobo interned with Amnesty International Section of Benin (West Africa) in 2010. After his internship, he worked as an activist and volunteer on many human rights projects, such as the Death Penalty, LGBT rights, Stop Violence Against Women, Health and sexual reproduction Rights, Trade and Arms Control, International Justice, Education, and Children’s Rights. He also served on the Organization Elective Board Committee in 2014.

Worried about young people’s future, he decided to challenge Benin’s public education policies system, which excluded and expelled students who failed three times with bad grades from the education system. So, in 2014, he proposed building up a private high school, particularly for those students, to give them another chance to continue their education and achieve their dreams by supporting one of his former high school mathematics teachers. Thus, he became the Executive Director of Studies and French college instructor at the CP La Methode/Calavi in Benin. He said: “Education is a fundamental right, and no one should be discriminated against, no matter the age of that person. I am so happy to see those young people get their degrees and achieve their goals. I have a doctor, law enforcement, communicator, pastor, professor, etc. That has not only impacted the community but also reduced community crimes.” Because “a kid who does not have a chance for minimum education will have a chance for crime.”

Dr. Denakpon moved to the United States of America for freedom and education. Being born a Benin citizen, he becomes a U.S. citizen. He received his Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.) in International Criminal Law and his LL.M. in U.S. & Global Legal Studies with a concentration in international criminal law with Honors from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he has been appointed Adjunct Professor of Law to co-coach the International Criminal Court Moot Court Team with his former criminal law professor and primary doctorate faculty advisor and criminal defense Attorney Michael J. Benza. He also holds an LL.B. in Law from Benin’s School of Law (UFR) of the African University of Management and Technology (UATM Gasa-Formation). His co-coaching helped the team win the national Round for the Americas and advance to the international rounds for the first time in the law school’s history, with the Best Speaker and Best Brief Awards in 2021. During his LL.M. program journey, Denakpon Tchobo contributed to the Yemen Accountability Project by investigating war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in the Yemeni civil war. Dr. Denakpon Tchobo also studied U.S. Political Institutions: Congress, Presidency, Courts, and Bureaucracy, an online course by HarvardX from Harvard University.
